Surface Applied (SA) TGSIs
Product Range Overview
What are ESP Surface Applied (SA) TGSIs?
Each ESP Warning & Directional TGSIs are chemically and mechanically applied to the finished surface. Nylon composite, corrosion resistant anchors and 304 stainless steel fasteners, provide mechanical connection to the finished substrate or existing finished surface, that possesses suitable structural integrity.

Why do ESP Surface Applied (SA) TGSIs perform so well?
Each ESP Surface Applied TGSI Access Tile is manufactured through the method of high-pressure compression process of a Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC). Produced with our unique Herculite material, we construct every ESP Access Tile from the highest quality polymer components and, with additional UV stabilisers for the harsh Australian Sun, the ESP Access Tiles will maintain their individual Luminance Contrast Values over the long term.

How Versatile are ESP Surface Applied (SA) TGSIs?
The ESP Surface Applied (SA) TGSI Access Tiles are a series of compliance products that will renew your confidence in specifying and applying Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs).
Made from durable, fibre-reinforced Herculite polymer, the ESP SA TGSI Access Tiles are fast to install, simple to retrofit and withstand the toughest pedestrian use.
All ESP SA TGSI Warning & Directional Access Tiles have been independently tested for their Slip Resistance Value to be used in conjunction with SA HB 198:2014 - Guide to the Specification and Testing of Slip Resistance of Pedestrian Surfaces. These tests have been conducted in compliance with AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 Amdt No.s 1 & 2 - Clause 2.3.1 and tested in Accordance with AS4586:2013 (Amdt 1:2017) Appendices A, C & D.

Product and Quality Standard
Mechanically and Chemically Secured
Each ESP Warning and Directional Tile is applied to the completed, finished substrate or existing finished surface, that possesses suitable structural integrity. Nylon composite, corrosion resistant anchors and 304 stainless steel fasteners, provide mechanical connection to the substrate
No Lifting Edges
The Surface Applied ESP Warning and Directional Tile, with the addition of high quality adhesive polymer to the bottom of the base surface, eradicates the likelihood of the tile perimeter lifting. This feature is designed to meet compliance with AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 Amdt No.s 1 & 2 - Clause 3.2.1 (a) & (e).
Applicator and Person intending to install ESP SA Warning and Directional TGSIs
It is essential that anyone installing, applying, or maintaining the following ESP Surface Applied Warning or Directional Tile products, are trained and inducted in their application and use:
Training (Minimum) & Induction
Installer and applicators must be trained and inducted by ESP Australia P/L in the relevant application method of ESP Warning and Directional TGSI products. Failure to do so will void the product warranty offered by ESP Australia.
Occupational Workplace Safety (OWS)
Any responsible entity must be familiar with and have in place, the relevant work practices and insurances as to provide a safe work environment for the inducted installers and applicators who are to apply ESP Warning and Directional TGSI products.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Always use personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying the ESP Australia Warning and Directional TGSI products.
The following items should be worn when applying the ESP Warning and Directional TGSI products:
(a) eye protection,
(b) hand protection,
(c) safety boots and,
(d) protective clothing for the hands, upper and lower body.
Please note: If you are using electric cutting, drilling, grinding or other application tools then ear protection and additional safety clothing are recommended.Warning

Mandatory Compliance with Applicable Legislation, Standards and Codes
Intended Use of ESP SA WARNING TGSIs
The ESP Warning and Directional TGSIs are designed to enhance the safety, dignity and independence of people who are blind or vision impaired so that they have barrier free access to the built environment. Each ESP Warning and Directional TGSI provides cues which when combined with other environmental information assist people who are blind or vision-impaired.
WARNING TGSIs
For each ESP Warning Tile to be effective, the intended use of this product must meet compliance with AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 Amdt No.s 1 & 2 - Section A 2.1 (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) and, 2.2 (a), (b) (i) and installed as to the tested results, as independently verified, in accordance with Appendix E of the above standard.
DIRECTIONAL TGSIs
For each ESP Directional Tile to be effective, the intended use of this product must meet compliance with AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 Amdt No.s 1 & 2 - Section 3 - 2.1 (a), (b), (c), 2.2 (a), (b) and 2.3 installed as to the tested results, as independently verified, in accordance with Appendix E of the above standard.
A copy of AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009 Amdt No.s 1 & 2 can be purchased from SAI GLOBAL
Application - Fit-for-purpose
Prior to any application of the ESP Warning and Directional TGSIs, all sites should be inspected.
This will ensure that the products will be fit for the intended purpose and the proposed finished surface. The will also provide the opportunity for the applicator to confirm the integrity of the finished surface that the ESP Warning and Directional TGSIs will be installed onto.
Positioning of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs)
ESP Australia recommends that the proposed design layout for the ESP Warning and Directional TGSI installation, should also be assessed, prior to installation, to ascertain if the application will achieve compliance with the applicable codes and standards.
ESP Australia recommends that any assessment should only be done by a qualified and knowledgeable person who is experienced and fluent in the use of TGSIs within Australia and New Zealand.
Site Compliance with Luminance Contrast
Every finished surface and/or substrate is different and so presents its own nuances of luminance. ESP Australia strongly recommends that luminance contrast testing of the substrate, (finished surface - that being the finished surrounding surface in line with the accessible path of travel), be tested for its luminous value so as to determine that the chosen ESP TGSI has sufficient luminance contrast as required by AS/NZS 1428.4.1. Amendment 1 - 2010-11-26 Appendix E and specifically Table E1 should be used.
This will determine if the colour of the selected ESP Warning and/or Directional TGSI will be compliant with the applicable legislation, standards and codes.
