Nearly 13 Years Later, This Is How Our First ‘Cast In Place’ Tiles Look Now
In early 2012, our very first installation of AccessTile® tactiles took place at an intersection and bus stop in Mount Dandenong. This marked a significant milestone for us as we introduced our durable, high-performance product to the local infrastructure. The tactiles used in this project were the Cast in Place version, carefully installed during the concrete pouring process to ensure a secure, lasting fit.
What makes this installation particularly impressive is the challenging environment it has faced over the years. Located near an intersection with a gravel road, the tactiles have been subject to exceptional levels of stress, including constant exposure to stones, dirt and debris. Moreover, these tactiles have endured the repeated pressure of 11-tonne, dual-tyred buses driving over them thousands of times each year. Despite these harsh conditions, nearly 13 years later, the tactiles remain impressively intact.
Our Cast in Place tactiles have proven their reliability and resilience. They are still vividly yellow, maintaining their visibility and aesthetic despite years of exposure to the elements. The slip resistance remains high, ensuring pedestrian safety, and the tactiles show no signs of fracturing, tears, curling, lifting, or crumbling. The only evidence of their long service is some general wear and tear, which speaks volumes about their enduring quality.
This installation has stood as a testament to the durability and effectiveness of AccessTile® products. For over a decade, they have consistently performed in one of the most demanding scenarios, showcasing why they are a preferred choice for infrastructure projects where longevity and safety are paramount.
